Cavaliers blown away by strong Storm.

The Cavaliers looked to have got off to a perfect start when Tom Davies crashed over from close range, however the eagle eyes touch judge had spotted a forward pass and the try was wiped off. Leicester responded to the early Oxford pressure and broke away to score when a cross field kick was not dealt with allowing the Storm an easy four points and also a conversion giving them a 6-0 lead.

Oxford then replied with a try of their own after quick hands saw winger Stuart Waknell score in the corner. Andy Winfield was unable to add the extras leaving the score at 6-4. The Storm then scored two more quick trys as the Oxford Cavaliers failed to deal with any threats from the air. With both trys converted the Storm were running away with the game at 18-4.

Oxford once again got back in the game as good forward play saw Wise Rockobatitoa crash over. This time Winfield added the extras to cut the deficit leaving the score at 18-10. The Storm however responded one more time before half time and scored again to make it 24-10 at the interval.

With the Cavaliers now 14 points down they needed to score first and this they did after a nice set play came off allowing Chris Stables acres of space to score out wide. The from the restart another Oxford break from Tom Davies saw him stopped just 10 meters out, however from the next play the ball Ruari Lynch charged over bouncing off the post to make the score 24-18. Andy Winfield added the extras and Oxford were right back in it at 24-20.

Then disaster struck from the kick off as a relaxed Oxford allowed the kick off to bounce and the Storm pounced on the loose ball to score once again extending the lead to 30-20 with the conversion.

The Cavaliers then hit the panic but and loose carries, poor offloads, missed tackles and penalties gave the Storm excellent field position time and time again and from the pressure they scored four more try's taking the score to 44-20 and thus effectively ending the contest.

Oxford gained a little respect scoring twice in the last five minutes. Firstly Wez Newton found a hole to score and a clean break and great pass from Prop Alex Wright found Wise who passed to his centre who kicked the ball forward for second rower Ruari Lynch to dive on making the final score 44-30.
