Parkgate manager Andy Dawson shared his thoughts after the 3-1 pre-season defeat at Sandy Lane against Worksop Town.

Dawson spoke about the intensity of the game, fitness and his side's performance in their second pre-season game of the summer.

"Today was a great work out for the lads. We knew we was going to be facing a very well organised, physical and tactically drilled side in Worksop Town." Said Dawson.

"We had seen they have been training intensely during pre-season on social media but credit to our lads we have worked very hard on fitness during the summer ourselves which stood us in good stead for today.

Playing on the new 4G surface was obviously a slightly different challenge to grass but again credit to our lads they adapted well and worked hard all around the pitch for each other."

Goalkeeper Zac Walker returned to the side today and Dawson was pleased with his contribution to the game.

"It was great to see Zac (Walker) back in the net today and he was instrumental in keeping us in the game early on with a couple of quality saves. Lee (Whitehead) and myself both commented after the game that we had a couple of stand out performers but to be fair to the lads, every single one of them put in a good shift and we was pleased with their performances and fitness levels."

The Steelmen travel to Ecclesfield Red Rose next and the Parkgate manager added his thoughts on our opposition and squad rotation.

"We'll work on a few things at training on Tuesday and then on Thursday we travel away to play Ecclesfield Red Rose which will again be a very good test for us. We will change the squad again for this game and look to try and bring the six lads back in who missed today’s matchday squad."
