The Steelmen ease past fellow NCEL opposition in the Buildbase FA Vase.

Parkgate started the game with five debutants, Brad Kilburn, Tom Almond, Luke Hodgkinson, Tom Staniland and Freddy Tracey.

The game started in quite a scrappy fashion with both teams trying to find a foothold in the game.

The Steelmen had a very good shout for a penalty on 29 minutes when Ollie Yates pinched the ball from former Parkgate defender Liam Flint and proceeded into the box and was dragged down, only for the assistant referee to have given a goal kick as she had seen the ball cross the line prior to the foul.

The Steelmen did break the deadlock on 41 minutes when good hold up play from Alex Rippon out wide allowed debutant Tom Almond to whip a cross in and fellow debutant Freddy Tracey smashed the ball home to make it 1-0.

For the first ten minutes of the second half the visitors came out much stronger and forced numerous early corners but failed to make the chances count.

On 61 minutes Richard Tootle set Freddy Tracey free who calmly dribbled into the box and passed the ball across the box for Alex Rippon to tap home. 2-0.

Ten minutes later a mistake by Flint again was latched onto by Bruno Holden who fires home into the far bottom corner from the edge of the box to make it 3-0.

With The Steelmen mounting numerous attacks, on 84 minutes a chance from Alex Rippon deflected off the Worsbrough defender to make it 4-0 to The Steelmen.

A solid display and a well earned win see’s the Steelmen through to the next round (second qualifying round) to set up another “local” cup affair away vs Hallam this time.
