It was Parkgate who started the game the brightest. Some quick passing moves in the first couple of minutes led to a long range effort by Josh Davies that was blocked by the defence.

The next chance of the game fell again to Parkgate. The Rossington ‘keeper parried a corner to the feet of Tim Whittaker who volleyed towards the goal but it was met by the ‘keeper again.

The ball was in the back of the Rossington net after 23 minutes, but it was ruled out for a push by Crookes on a defender.

The home crowd weren’t impressed on the 32nd minute when Brandon Bagley went in for a tackle. Bagley received a yellow card for the tackle that seemed soft.

The hosts started the second half strong. 4 minutes in to the half and the ball was in the net. Niall Doran slotted home easily for the hosts to put them in the lead.

Chances were far and few between in the second half and frustrations began to flare. On the 60th minute Alex Rippon was sent to the sin bin for dissent towards the referee which reduced the Steelmen to 10 men for 10 minutes.

It was Davies who tested the ‘keeper again for Parkgate. Another long range effort that was well saved down to the ‘keepers left side.

On the 72nd minute it was 2-0. Winter scored from the edge of the box with a well driven shot.

Chris Butt saved well down to his right after a well hit shot got through the crowd of defenders.

A few final chances fell to Parkgate in the final minutes. Whittaker headed over for yards out and Rippon shot over after taking the ball off the feet of Harrison who looked set to tap in.
