This week, we spoke to Captain & Defender Bradley Morton about joining the Steelmen, the atmosphere in the changing room, Saturday’s win & much more...

Q // You joined Parkgate back in September from NCEL Premier side Hallam. What was the reasons for signing with Parkgate?

“I enjoyed my time at Hallam and we had an excellent season last year, winning the league and gaining promotion.

Parkgate is a local club to me and I have worked with Nebsy (Scott Mason) before in both Saturday and Sunday football.

When he spoke to me about what he is trying to achieve over the next couple of seasons, I was really interested in joining. He also mentioned some players who he was looking to sign and the young lads already here and it sounded promising. I fancied the new challenge.”

Q // There’s some good, young players involved in the squad at the moment, including Owen Kelly, James Hardeman & Liam Tomlinson. How well have these lads done?

“These lads have been absolutely excellent, I can’t praise them enough for their performances so far. I think Owen and James have been man of the match for the majority of games I have played in.

It’s early days but if they continue playing like this there is no reason why they can’t play further up the divisions.

It was my first game playing with Liam at the weekend and he looked solid and assured at the back, it was an impressive performance, hopefully that can continue.”

Q // What’s the mood like in the changing room following Saturday’s 6-0 win?

“It was a great result and one we have felt has been coming over the past few weeks. Obviously a result like that lifts the mood of everyone in the changing room, but we all know that there is still a lot of work to do and we need to build that result in our next few games.”
