In the opening moments Yates had to show he was alert from the off to clear off the line in the first minute. It was a first half that started promising for Parkgate as Fusco slipped the call through for Rippon who shot over the bar. The pair again linked up shortly after, this time switching roles as Rippon put Fusco through who shot wide.
With no goal through the first half, there were opportunities for both teams. Yates and Russell combined well to prevent a counter attack for Skegness. Flint showed his quality as he read a ball in to the box well to intercept and prevent a clear shot for the visitors.
In the 45th minute Bagleys volley smashed the bar and somehow bounced back out in to play and that was the end of the half.
HALF-TIME | Parkgate 0-0 Skegness Town
Early in to the second half Flint made a mistake which almost proved costly as the striker pounced on to his miss kick but luckily fired wide.
The pressure continued and in the 51st minute, the visitors had the opening goal. McGowan turned the ball into his net from a corner. He appeared to be pulled down by the opposition player but the referee and linesman didn’t agree with the shouts from the Parkgate staff and players.
Flint, who was warned previously for his behaviour to the ref, was sin binned meaning he sat out 10 minutes. Freddie Russell was also sin binned late on, receiving his second temporary dismissal of the season.
Bagley looked to get the equaliser for Parkgate as he headed wide after Rippon crossed the ball in to him.
A minute later the visitors made it 2 with a header from a corner bearing Ingham and the game was all over the Steelmen.
