REPORT| Parkgate 5-1 Ecclesfield Red Rose

After Saturday's fabulous occasion against professional side Rotherham United; Parkgate hosted Ecclesfield Red Rose at Roundwood.

The first 15 minutes of the game were slow and neither side created any clear-cut chances, but after 18 minutes the ball dropped to Bruno Holden inside the Ecclesfield penalty and he struck an effort towards goal with the keeper parrying the ball into the path of Ben Thornton to grab his first Parkgate goal since his return.

Only five minutes later, Parkgate defender Haydn Ward attempted a tackle inside the box, seeing his man go to ground, giving the referee no choice but to point to the spot, which was calmly put away to level the score.

Parkgate midfielder Simon Harrison is known for a screamer or two, so it was no surprise when he fired a thunderous strike into the top right corner to give his side the lead at the half time break.

HALF-TIME: Parkgate 2-1 Ecclesfield Red Rose

The home side came out for the second half with more purpose to put the game to bed, with three big chances and a penalty shout which was turned down by the referee despite looking like a clear handball.

It wasn't till the 77th minute for Parkgate to score again, with Alex Rippon chipping a cross towards the back post where Holden headed low and into the net. Rippon got a goal of his own when he raced onto a through ball, chipping over the keeper and into the net, with Parkgate taking a three goal lead.

Simon Harrison somehow managed to better his first goal, volleying into the top corner from the edge of the box to give Andy Dawson's men a 5-1 victory.
