Penalty decision goes against Steelmen.

The Steelmen travelled to a rejuvenated Brigg Town for their first game of 2016. Manager, Steve Adams, went with a much changed personnel, having only four players in his squad from the start of the season. The young Steelmen acquitted themselves very well to the heavy conditions { A credit to the Brigg ground staff for getting the pitch ready}. A very entertaining game saw the Steelmen, with their neat passing game, create the best chance of the first half. A cross from the left by Jordan Turner found Ben Thornton whose miss timed header went wide.
The second half continued as the first with both teams playing entertaining football and creating chances. Parkgate, with Reece Wesley organising the defence looked comfortable. It needed something special to break the deadlock, unfortunately it came from the Brigg left back, Scott Mathews, who raced from the halfway line, beat three defenders and scored with a left foot pile driver on 77 mins.
The Steelmen threw men forward in search of an equaliser but in the 85th minute the Steelmen had a legitimate appeal for a penalty disallowed after a Brigg defender handled the ball in the 6 yard box. Unfortunately the officials waved play on.
A disappointing result for Steve Adams and players but a much improved performance.
