THE Girl's Football Academy got off to a flyer on Tuesday evening with around 25 girls in attendance.

The original plan was to run this on the first Tuesday of the month, but because of the success of the opening session, the Girls’ Academy will now take place weekly on the astro surface behind the clubhouse at Piddinghoe Avenue, Peacehaven from 6pm-7pm.

The Academy is open to all girls of all abilities who are 16 years old or under. The sessions will take place on a weekly basis with the remaining three sessions in February being free of charge. After this from March 5, the price will be £5 per session if you’re paying in cash or £15 per calendar month if you set up a standing order.

The Academy will run training sessions only and you do not have to be a Peacehaven & Telscombe youth player or a Peacehaven or Telscombe resident to take part. Everyone is welcome.

The coaches are Peacehaven & Telscombe first team manager Mark Shutt and Lewes FC coach Tony Coade.

Mark Shutt said: “I’m so pleased we have now launched our Girls’ Academy. Both Tony and I were especially delighted by the turnout.” “The girls had a brilliant time and we are both looking forward to developing and building the Academy during the coming months.”

The next Girls’ Academy session will be on Tuesday February 12 from 6pm-7pm.
