Plans to improve the Menace Arena

Menace Life Ain’t Easy, and the work required to be eligible for promotion at the Menace Arena is not a straightforward task. We plan to submit a planning application in the coming months to Southwark Council to ask for their permission to make the necessary upgrades to our ground. We will also need to request an extension to the planning permission for floodlights that was granted in 2019 that has not been delivered largely due to COVID. The Dulwich Estate (our Freeholder) will also need to be consulted and approve both applications.

We hope that we can rely on your support throughout the process, so please do keep an eye on our social media and website over the rest of this year.

We have secured some funding for the project, but we will need to seek further funds to make the project possible. We are currently costing the project, and will publish more information on this when we have it. The work will be split into three phases.

Phase 1 (meet Grade G by March 2023 in order to be eligible to be promoted next season)

• Hard standing (south circular end of the ground and joining up to the main stand)
• New dressing room and public toilets to be converted from old shipping containers and situated at the end of the grass car park

• Modern LED floodlights installed

• A small extension to the main stand to permit 100 seated spectators
• An improved turnstile

The plans will be on display at the match tomorrow (16 April). We would love to get your views. We are likely to need to provide information as part of the application on how people travel to the Menace Arena, so will be asking about this at the match. We would also like to take this opportunity to get your broader views on your experiences when visiting the ground. We would therefore really appreciate it if you could complete the survey when asked at the match.
