“Snoddingland” is first mentioned in a charter of 838 in which King Egbert of Wessex gave "four ploughlands in the place called “Snoddingland and Holanbeorge" (Holborough) to Beornmod, the Bishop of Rochester. Nearly 1200 years later one of these ploughlands may well play host to an almighty tussle at 2.15pm on Saturday 23 October that no Menace fan in their right mind will want to miss out on. Peckham will travel to the Potyns Sportsground seeking to progress to the third round of the Bill Manklow Inter-Regional Challenge Cup when they take on Snodland Town Reserves. They play on the same ground as Snodland’s first team, who play in the SCEFL, so the ground is fully enclosed with floodlights and a seated main stand. The club has a bar with hot and cold refreshments that will be open from midday.

Travel - XX.01 or 31 (latest at 12.01) from Peckham Rye to West Malling (70 minutes), with one change at Swanley and then 151 bus at 13.21 from West Malling station to Townsend Road, Snodland (15 minutes) and finally a 2 minute walk to the ground (or a taxi is £10). The return 151 bus to West Malling station is at 16.18.

Pubs - The Monks Head (22 Constitution Hill, ME6 5DH) is the only option in Snodland and reportedly serves food at lunch time and London Pride as their cask ale. For a more varied choice pre or post-match then Menace fans may want to visit West Malling where there are several good pubs. We very much enjoyed The Bull Inn (ME19 6QH) and the Malling Jug (ME19 6LU) when we visited Kings Hill last season.
