Meddins late winner secures vital win for 2's

After a month of no action due to a postponed fixture in December through youth players selection for the Wales NAGS set up, Penarth second team returned to league action hungry for the second half of the season and a fight for promotion.

With a strong squad, 5th placed Penarth A traveled to 2nd placed Cardiff Uni B.
The teams were closely matched with Penarth taking the lead through an Andy Strong strike. But Cardiff Uni were soon level after a counter which left an overflow, hit hard past keeper Ben Jewess.
The home side took the lead after a bobbled ball was deflected through the legs of the Penarth keeper.
Penarth fought back to level things through a Phil Lane shot.
Cardiff again regained the lead despite some resolute defending from Penarth and Penarth equalised once more with a smart finish from James Kidby to level things 3-3 at half time.

After a rousing pep talk by captain Parkinson, Penarth were again a goal down as Cardiff found the backboard with the Penarth keeper in no-mans land.

With the clock running down, just 5 mins to go, Penarth equalised through a well worked Elys Johnson goal. The resultant surge saw Penarth rally and with just two minutes on the clock taking the lead by a Iwan Meddins reverse stick shot into the corner. A vital 3 points against a higher placed team in De Cymru 1.

The next 4 weeks of fixtures see the Penarth A take on two other higher placed teams from the league forming a pivotal 4 weeks of results.
