Penarth 1st XI picked up a much-needed victory in Gameweek 8, holding out for a 1-0 win against Wotton-under-Edge. After some injuries within the squad, a formation reshuffle helped solidify a defence that had conceded more goals than it would have liked in previous weeks. Thanks to this, Penarth had a very solid first half and capped it off with a PC goal for Gabe Pryde before the break. The Bears had many chances to add to this lead after the break, but were thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping, and relied on some excellent defending of their own to keep the visitors out of the circle for most of the half. Penarth’s 1-0 victory provides a nice springboard for Gameweek 9’s double header in Cornwall and Devon, where they hope to pick up more valuable points.
