Impressive display from Junior Bears.

The next generation of Penarth hockey talent made the short trip to Pencoed for their latest round-robin tournament, and returned with a rare unbeaten record. With several members of the squad still unavailable due to injury and clashing commitments, eight members of the junior section - including a lone U12 infiltrating the U14 ranks - put together some of their best hockey to see off Cardiff & Met (2-1), Bridgend (4-0) and Whitchurch (6-1), while turning in the customary lull against a well-marshalled Brecon side that defied the fact they had no goalkeeper to earn a 1-1 draw. Goals came from Iwan Llewellyn, Bryn Wilton, Will Edwin and Harri Lewis, while typically solid defending from Llew Pierce (the only true U14 in a squad largely made up of U13s), Wil Phillips and Ioan Redwood helped ease debutant goalkeeper Max Barton into the fray.
