Percy Main v Winlaton Community, Saturday December 13th

Percy Main v Winlaton Community, Saturday December 13th

Norman de Bruin11 Dec - 20:29

A rare home game this week:

Home comforts on Saturday, in what will be our penultimate game of 2025 as Percy Main Amateurs host Winlaton Community, a game which will mark the half way point of our Northern Alliance first division league season. Kick off is 2pm.
This will be only our third home game in the last 2 and a half months, contrast that to the opening month of the season, when we were sick of the sight of the place!
The sides are finely poised in the division, with The Main standing in sixth, a point and a place better off than Winlaton in the table, but having played a game more.

It’s still fairly tight at the top with Willington Quay Saints making the running for now, but if Percy can maintain our good form of late (unbeaten since September 6th, if you forget about cup tie penalty shoot outs) and put a bit of a run together in the new year, then there’s no reason why we can’t get right into the mix!
2025 has been a funny old year on the whole, but we look to end it on a high note, both this week and next, as we head into the mini Christmas break with a couple of home games.

We last met Winlaton during the 2022-23 season when both sides were in the Alliance’s top tier and we saw an entertaining 3-3 draw at Purvis Park on October 8th’ 22, Dillon Blake with a brace and Alfie Livermore were the Main goal scorers that day, Kyle Wharton (pen) Samuel Brhane and Adam Edgar replied for the visitors.
The points were ours in the corresponding league game as Percy Main triumphed 2-1 over in Winlaton in a midweek encounter towards the back end of the season, thanks to a couple of goals by Alfie Livermore, (who is now turning out for Whitley Bay) Kieran Priestley replied for the hosts.
