Message to all members

Dear Members

Thank you to all of those who attended the AGM. The revised club rules were passed at the AGM, as was the new membership fee structure, which will predominantly affect the adult playing sections.

A commitment I made at that meeting was to increase/improve communication and to that end shortly after each monthly Management meeting there will be a Q&A clinic open to all members. This is likely to be on the second Thursday of each month starting in August.

I wish to give my personal thanks to all members of the committees for their contributions, there is a letter attached to all volunteers, a group which seems to be growing in numbers. At the same time I wish to welcome Daniel O’Connell as Club Captain, George Offer and Stuart Day as 1st XV co-captains, Hugh Burnham as Ladies Coach, Amy Savage as Ladies Chair and Jo Britchford as Ladies Captain, I look forward to working with you over the coming season.

Last year saw us invest heavily again in the grounds and this saw us eat into the club reserves, not something we want to do every year. Greene King have increased their prices significantly and whilst we are reviewing our bar suppliers we have to put prices up. When you join as a member you will receive a new membership card which will be swiped through the till and your members discount applied, which should lessen the increase - more will follow on that soon.

As part of our commitment to local charities we intend to invite a different charity to each home league fixture and each age grade festival. That is 22 opportunities across the season for the charities to ‘rattle their collection boxes’. If anyone has a charity dear to their heart that they wish to nominate please email me directly so they can be included,

The RFU want all clubs to use their GMS system to host the clubs website. Tina Prewer has been working very hard in the background to get this off the ground, thanks Tina. As the Pitchero site still has lots of historical information that will run in parallel until we have saved all of the information. The new site is:

We have many young, talented and enthusiastic players, both male and female, over 20 teams in total. As a club, we support our players as best we can, but we are always in need of more and work hard to find new initiatives. Player Sponsorship is intended to directly help players cover the growing costs of playing the sport, for example kit, boots, fees and for the club to improve its services to the players (eg physiotherapy and laundry). The Sponsor a Player initiative is to directly support a player (or more than one) and the players wanted to be pro-active in this by talking to potential Sponsors themselves. If anyone wants to know more about this initiative please contact Hugh Burnham (or any officer of the club).

Finally for this notice I am pleased to announce that we have again secured the attendance at the club of the Northampton Saints DPP programme at the club. This is great news as it allows us to continue to build our relationship with Saints over the coming season.

I look forward to seeing you at the club in the not too distant future.

Kind regards

Dr Alan Graham
