Under 18 girls get a run out
Oundle A v Pboro
Oundle A v Oundle B
Oundle B v Pboro
It was a beautiful day for a game of 7s. Peterborough suffered an early injury resulting in Rosie being carried off the pitch and super-sub, Kinzy, making an earlier than expected appearance. P'boro took a while to find their feet, and breathe, and Oundle made the most of it getting the first points on the board. Half-time 5 - 0. Second half saw a more structure P'boro team with lots of running offloads drawing in the opposition. Eva was able to even up the score from a lovely 9 10 switch at the back of the scrum to make the most of the space on the blind. Oundle then came back to score the final try of the game. Full-time 10 - 5.
Having bundled Rosie off to the hospital to get her knee checked out, the girls were in the mood for a win. The second game of the day for P'boro was started on the front foot. Abi was able to run the ball out wide, skirting the defence, to score the first try. Converted by Penny. Taking the more direct route through the middle, Penny was in for the next try but was unlucky with the conversion. Oundle were soon to come back with a reply. Half-time 7-12. Tackles were being put in all over the pitch with both teams trying to get clean ball into space. Oundle were able to run round the outside of our defence and run from deep in their half to score an unconverted try. From a penalty, Penny lead the attack, side stepping and fending off tackles to make the off load to Meg who scored the last try of the game. Full-time 12 - 17.
A huge congratulations to Kinzy for playing her first game with the U18s. Rosie has been given the ok from the hospital and hoping to be back on the pitch soon. Thank you to Oundle school for their amazing hospitality enjoyed by both players and parents.
Next game is the Wisbech 7s tournament.
