Peterborough Northern Star FC have informed the United Counties League of our intention to withdraw our Reserve Team at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Reserves Manager Dominic Knighton and assistant Sean Wanless were relieved of their duties Saturday evening. Vince Zirpolo, Dan Wilson & Harry Fitzjohn will be handling our Reserve Team for the remainder of this season.

The club can also share the information that we have since submitted an application for our Reserve side to enter the Peterborough & District Football League for 2019/20.

Chairman Robert Zirpolo said "I feel this is the right decision to make in regards to the future of our Reserve side. To make it work better I believe significant changes are needed. A good Reserve side is crucial for a club like ours in regards to supporting the first team, being a pathway for PNS youth players as well as being competitive in its own right. I personally feel it has been a failure on all these fronts this season".

"Dom told me on 31st January he would not be continuing next season and has cited a "lack of support from the club" to players on a number of occasions. Something I totally disagree with but I was happy for him to initially see out the season as he requested. I have since changed my mind and after a good, constructive meeting with the Reserve squad earlier this week we will ensure the final 4 games of the season are fulfilled and use these as good preparation and a platform for going into next season.”

“The recruitment process in regards to who our Reserves Manager next season will be is well underway and has been for a while. An announcement on that will be released in due course.”

The club will be making no further comment on this matter.
