Boca 4 - 1 Hart Cougars

Put out the bunting and strike up the band! The Boca Juniors have won a match!

After a record of five defeats, one draw and one goal scored the Under Eights team from Petersfield Town Juniors chalked up their first victory of the season against Hart Cougars.

The match started with some promise for Bocas with some neat footwork from Fynn Bhattacharjee and also a low shot from Evan Parsons, at that point the scorer of the team's only ever goal. However, proceedings began to follow a grimly familiar pattern when Hart took the lead with a high drive into the roof of the net.

Undaunted, Bocas rallied and played their best football of the season to pull themselves back level. Fleet-footed Fynn sprinted up the left wing with the ball, cut in and poked past the keeper. A goal! Cue ecstatic celebrations from players and even parents, who struggled to walk the line between decorum and delerium.

But there was more to come, and the pressure on Hart's goal was maintained throughout the second 10 minute quarter with Ethan Findon energetically covering every blade of grass and Pancho Leiva on unyielding midfield patrol. Boca were rewarded twice more with Jacob scoring two goals in quick succession. First he latched on to a long goal-kick from Josh Stone to race through and gleefully smash in and then took advantage of a defensive lapse after a throw-in to slide in another.

With the score 3-1 at half time the win was on. Boca's showed their defensive solidity through the third quarter repelling a slew of attacks and corners with the impenetrable Josh Skuse sweeping up time and again. Zara Williams replaced Josh Stone in goal and showed the same composure between the sticks as she had on the pitch, scooping more than one save round the post to safety.

Released from goal, Josh Stone, showed his running power with a few powerful bursts, one of which led to his ankles being clipped when through on goal. Undeterred, he picked himself up and smashed the resulting free-kick low into the corner of the goal. 4-1 and a historic first win secured.
