Phantoms move back to the Memorial Grounds for 2017

A decision has been taken by the club to return our home games to the Memorial Grounds at Holland Road, West Ham, home to East London RFC and Kings Cross Steelers RFC.

Since their formation in 2000 until their withdrawal from the Essex Leagues in September 2013, the Phantoms had always played their home games at the Memorial Grounds. Whilst the move to make Hackney Marshes a new base for the club going forward was initially well received, it quickly became clear that following the games that have been played at the Memorial Grounds this season against East London and the Kings Cross Steelers that there was an appetite to play at a true rugby clubhouse again but most of all to return home as a club. This, plus the welcome extended to the club by those in charge of the facilities at the Memorial Grounds now which was second to none lead to this being the obvious choice for the club.

The Phantoms would like to put on record their gratitude to the staff and management at Hackney Marshes for all of their assistance at what was a transitional time for the club but with a move back to a bona fide rugby clubhouse and facilities in place for the new year, the hope is for the Phantoms rebirth to gather pace and momentum.
