If the old adage “it was a game of two halves” was ever correct, then it certainly applied to our game on Saturday.
We started strongly, with a Safi Farbod effort in the opening minute, although it lacked enough power to really test the Rossington goalkeeper. A few half-chances came our way before Yassine Teache opened the scoring for us on 18 minutes, converting a Farbod cross.
Rossington played their part in an entertaining game and were back on level terms after 26 minutes. As the game continued, both sides continued to pose threats, but we regained the lead when goalscorer Teache turned provider, laying the ball off to Ira Bakura, who tapped home from close range.
Our opponents were not to be outdone, however, and were back on level terms just five minutes later before taking the lead in the final minute of the first half.
Having played our part in an entertaining first half, hopes were high for the second. However, a setback just five minutes after the restart, with Rossington extending their lead, seemed to drain the boys of hope.
