Pitshanger U9 White continue their winning run

On Sunday 18th November (yes, nearly a week ago. It's taken a while to get round to writing this!) Pitshanger U9 White played away at Greenford Celtic... at a ground that was nowhere near Greenford.

Luke started the game in goal, and Pitshanger started brightly. Ridhmeet looked eager to add to his tally of goals right from the outset, taking a shot that was well saved within the first few seconds. Pitshanger made the most of the large pitch, spreading the ball out wide. Following great midfield work by Gabriel Brennan, Velko crossed the ball in from the right and Ridhmeet tucked it away to open the scoring. Kaly, strong as ever in defence, cleared from the back following the kick-off, passing to Mihir. Mihir then dribbled with good control, crossing in for Ridhmeet to score his second. Despite our possession, Greenford nearly halved the deficit following a great shot on the right. But it was no match for Luke, who made a great save. At the end of the quarter Velko made another great cross, with Dylan controlling the delivery well, but the shot went agonisingly wide. End of the quarter: Greenford 0, Pitshanger 2.

Luke continued in goal in the second quarter, and Pitshanger continued to press. Evan made some great tackles, and Velko continued to make some excellent runs, often dribbling past half their team. One such run resulted in another cross and Ridhmeet scored for his hat-trick (a future Wolverhampton Wanderers striker in the making methinks!) Gabriel Segura decided to get in on the action too. He had a fine shot saved, but following another great cross from Velko, he netted to make it 4-0 to Pitshanger. Unfortunately we conceded a goal at the end of the quarter and the half finished Greenford 1, Pitshanger 4.

Pitshanger never stopped attacking as we went into the third quarter. We had 3 corners in succession, ending in Gabriel Segura firing a shot just over the bar. Gabriel Brennan also had a good shot go just over and Ridhmeet hit the cross bar. However, Gabriel Brennan found the back of the net with a fine shot from distance, making it 5-1. Following another mazy run and cross from Velko, Gabriel Segura found his shot saved and we weren't able to add another goal despite our dominant possession. (Dylan, who was in goal for the third quarter didn't need to touch the ball once).

The final quarter saw yet more action. Mihir hit the bar and had another good shot saved. Evan continued to make some world class tackles and following more great play on the right, Ridhmeet scored his 4th to make the score 6-1. Kaly then drove the ball forward and his shot was tipped wide by their keeper. The action moved to the other end though and Gabriel Segura had to make a great save to prevent a Greenford goal. In the last few minutes Velko produced a piece of magic, scoring from distance, and from the tightest of angles - literally the tightest: 0 degrees! The goalkeeper unable to keep out his corner. Despite some great defensive work and tackles by Indra, Greenford managed to score a consolation goal in the dying seconds. The final score, Greenford 2, Pitshanger 7.

Ridhmeet 4
Gabriel Segura 1
Gabriel Brennan 1
Velko 1
