Plumpton RFC - Code of Conduct for Players & Spectators
Players are encouraged to recognise and appreciate the efforts of coaches, match officials, committee, back room staff, administrators and other players.

Examples include:
o Inform your captain or selection committee “on time” your availability for the week’s game, and potential future game absences as soon as known
o Keep them informed of any injuries or other situations that may affect your match day attendance
o Take responsibility for your own “on time” attendance at the match day venue
o Treat your club facilities with respect and ensure match day equipment is collected without request.
o Be a willing volunteer. Help maintain & keep clean the clubhouse, changing areas. Support the running of the Bar & Catering on match days. Be a good host.
o Pay all match and other playing/ kit/ social fees at the time of request.
o Understand and value the loyalty and commitment of teammates and others within the club.
o Ensure any material published on behalf of the club in the media or public domain (Club website) is not likely to cause offence, criticises match officials/opposition or could result in action against the club.
o Encourage all players and do not enter into any type of abuse/ bullying either on the pitch or off the pitch.
o Inform a coach or club official of any unacceptable treatment/abuse.
o Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all.
o Play rugby for enjoyment, and because you want to.
o Do not turn up on match day under the influence of drugs or alcohol
o Publicly accept officials’ judgements. Play to the Laws of the Game and accept, without question, all referees’ decisions.
o Be attentive and work hard at training and coaching sessions.
o Ensure any injury pre-training/match is reported immediately to the coach or captain.
o Be a sportsman, win with dignity and lose with grace.
Players & Supporters are encouraged to:
o Follow and accept the rugby rules of the game do not question the referee’s decision. Discuss it after the match with the coach or captain.
o Control your emotions and do not verbally or physically abuse players, referees, supporters or officials.
o Use correct and proper language at all times; no swearing.
o Do not bring the game of rugby into disrepute or disciplinary action may follow.

Inclusion:

  • The Clubs doors are open to all and as a community club supports those from the local community without exception. Rugby Union is a community which allows the Club to bring unity and teamwork together.

  • As an open family Club, members are welcome, regardless of ethnicity or race, creed, colour, age, gender, disability, sex, occupation, sexual orientation, religion, political or other beliefs, identity, or privilege.

  • The Clubs aims are to remove barriers to people who share the joy of rugby and the feeling of community and to provide the ability to play the sport of Rugby.

  • The Club will continue to focus efforts on overcoming any barriers to inclusion.
  • Player discipline:

    Plumpton RFC is a club that wished to uphold the strong standing of our club within the RFU and local community. Any actions taken by the club in recognition of the above will be made, where appropriate with RFU disciplinary recommended actions and sanctions if appropriate, but as minimum’s. Continuous failure to meet the standards as set within this code of conduct will result in a ban from any involvement with Plumpton RFC.
