Match report

Town were knocked out of the Eastbourne Challenge Cup Quarter Final losing narrowly 2-3 vs Eastbourne Rangers.Despite 4 players ruled out through injury, Town were able to name a strong squad, however they got of to a poor start when they conceded within the opening 5mins with a long ball. Despite the set back, Town but had plenty of possession and chances in the first half but failed to find a leveller, going close a couple of times, but didn't force the Rangers keeper into a save.A slow start in the 2nd half saw Town concede another early Rangers goal, as the Rangers striker volleyed in from 20 yards to give Town an uphill battle. On the hour, Rangers made it 3-0 with a back post header and a commanding lead. Both sides lost a bit of discipline and the Rangers keeper could count himself lucky as should’ve seen red after a head-but but only received a booking, despite the linesman only be 15 yards away and informing the referee of the incident. Rangers rode their luck as Town hit the bar 3 times before finally pulling on back with a superb curling effort from Alex Speirs from 25-yards. Rangers had chances of their own to wrap the game up as Town pushed on and a late own goal gave Rangers a nervy final few moments of the game but with barely any time left on the clock the game finished 3-2.Disappointing to exit the Cup as holders but Town move on and look forward to the next 2 Cup games and continue to build on the good start to the league.
