1st Team v Godstone

Town were finally able to host a game at Polegate Rec with the pitch finally being dry enough to play on. And it was worth the wait as Town recorded a 6-1 win over Godstone.
 
Town were without their top scorer Alex Frost who injured himself last week but Godstone turned up to the game with only 9 players.
 
With a 2 players advantage Town dominated possession but their play was slow at times allowing Godstone to get back into position and make it hard for Town to break them down. Too many times the final ball was poor making it easy for Godstone to defend against. And despite all the possession, Godstone took the lead against the run of play. A mistake in Town's defence saw the striker race through on goal and slot the ball past Glenn Mitchell in goal.
 
Town made some early changes in the 2nd half, with the introduction of Mark Davis upfront. And he made an instant impact scoring from close range to level the game. It didn't take long until Town took the lead as George Whitley broke free through the middle and slotted past the advancing keeper. And it was 3-1 within minutes as Davis scored his 2nd. Whitley wrapped up the game with his 2nd as Godstone's heads dropped after working so hard in the 1st half. Mark Davis completed his hat trick with a stooped header from close range before Joe Lyons put the gloss on the 2nd half with the 6th of the game.
 
A game of 2 halves. Town dominated from start to finish, but a slow start could have cost them.
