Upon completing his 86-mile challenge John was joined by members of the Newcastle Falcons Community Foundation as well as star player Sinoti Sinoti and Director of Rugby Dean Richards for particular segments of the journey. Reflecting on his gargantuan challenge John says:
“I’m absolutely shattered and feet are aching. My shoulders are sore due to the weight of the Bergen and the straps rubbing but I loved every minute of it.”
Pushing past the pain and into the last stretch of the course, John was joined by Ponteland RFC in #TheLastMile whereas a club we were able to join the military veteran as he crossed the finishing line.
“The support on the last day was valuable with conversations playing a big distraction from the task at hand. I’d like to thank Ponteland RFC for joining me as and helping me with that final push.”
While completing this challenge, John has managed to raise over £1,090+ for local veterans charity Forward Assist and Newcastle Falcons Community Foundation.
“I am really pleased with the donations and I know there are more coming in. Sinoti Sinoti was brilliant and a real help through my walk. With him reminding me of the ‘never say die’ attitude as well showing me the ‘will to win no matter what’ which played a big part of me completing challenge.”
While he recovers from the weekend you can still donate by following the link below.
