The #MightyMaroons extended their unbeaten run in emphatic fashion as they ran in a total of 15 tries in against Gosforth RFC.

It took less than 60 seconds for Ponteland to get on the scoreboard with Man of the Match Joe Nicholson getting on the end of a well worked move to score his first of the day.

Full-back Patrick Holliday continued his try scoring form as he bumped off a few Gosfroth players before diving over the line to score.

Josh Beswick earned his first start this season and took the chance well as he crossed over on the 15-minute mark after flooding through in support.

The #MightyMaroons were then reduced to 13 men as Chris Searle and Jonny Love were sent for 10 minutes. But even with the extra men, Gosforth were unable to break through a sealed tight Ponteland defence.

Once the two had returned two the field the point began to be added with Luke Chick jetting past his winger to score his first of two that day.

Just two minutes later Nicholson finished the half with his second try of the day.

HALF TIME
Gosforth RFC 0 – 27 Ponteland RFC

The second half saw the pre-season hard work come into action as the #MightyMaroons found another gear which helped them run in a further 64 points.

In what singled out as the highlight of the match saw Ponteland Legend Jonny Love break the line and sprint 40 metres to score and dive under the posts to score on his 199th appearance.

Courtney West then manged to also increase his scoring tally as he grabbed a brace using his size and power to get himself over the whitewash.

In a flash of five minutes saw the #MightyMaroons cross over a further three times through Sam Long, Josh Beswick and Luke Chick.

It was then captain, Michael Searle who was having the ‘game of his life’ as he went over to score in the 69th minute.

Then just one minute later Josh Beswick demonstrated his electric pace to run 50 metres to score after selling a dummy pass that opened the space for himself.

After assisting several tries throughout the day, scrumhalf Luke Bailey then found himself finally getting a meat pie for himself. Using his quick feet he broke the line down the right flank and went over for his first try of the 2019 season.

Nicholson then again found himself breaking the line and racing downfield before dotting the ball down and completing his first hattrick for the club.

Credit to Gosforth who showed true character throughout the match.
