Thanks to you, we raised....

Port Sunlight RFC ‘Virtual’ Race Night

A fantastic fun filled night was had by all at our inaugural virtual Horse Racing Night. Despite still being in lockdown £1933 was raised for our new Club House.
The night was superbly organised by Dan ‘Turnover’ Turner, and hosted by our very own racing pundit Dave ‘Jugsy’ Tarr. The spectacular included 7 horse races and a snail race race (yes you read that correctly a ‘snail race’). Participants were able to bet on or even buy horses (or in my case donkeys). Those that bought them creatively named them such as Dancing Dazzler, Juggernaught and Huw Janus (and these were the clean ones). There was also a VE Anniversary Day Commemorative Race very kindly sponsored by Seamus Hayes and involved horses named after Club members who had proudly served in HM Armed Forces. Despite being online the excitement was real and cries of excitement could be heard across the Wirral Peninsula. However, the loudest cheering of the night was reserved for the Snail ‘Classic’ Race. Players bid to buy one of eight highly tuned racing snails. The auction saw big money thrown down with one snail bought for a whopping £105. It was a cracking race, quite literally as a ‘virtual boot’ would stomp on any of the back crawlers. It was a fantastic final race with our Vice President Simon ‘Monty’ Ward’s snail taking the spoils which he kindly donated to the Club fund. A brilliant night was had by all and is just another reflection of the Club’s ethos of ‘fun and family on and off the pitch’. If you’d be interested in joining our rugby family as a player, volunteer or social member, please get in touch with us. Everyone is welcome at Port Sunlight RFC.
