The Adelaide University cricketer was on the cusp of ACT Comets selection but courtesy of the strict and stringent Covid restrictions Australia was going through at the time, Esam sadly missed out.

However he played for Tynemouth in the Northern Premier League last summer and scored 639 league runs at a shade under 40 and took 34 league wickets at 24 and was a shining light in their side. He was in the top 15 for both batting and bowling in the league and no other cricketer achieved that status during the summer.

Esam plays his club cricket at the prestigious Adelaide University team which contains Will Bosisto who played state cricket for Western Australia as well as T20 cricket for the Perth Scorchers and currently has Middlesex starlet Ethan Bamber opening the bowling. In addition Cameron Edwards played 2nd team cricket for Kent and Miles Hammond is a regular starter for Gloucestershire and was selected to be in the set up for the Birmingham Pheonix in the Hundred.
