Potters Bar 3rd X1 travelled the short distance down to Mays Lane, Barnet to play Old Elizabethans 2nd X1 on Saturday and returned with a 4 wicket victory in a good game of cricket.
On a surprisingly dry pitch thanks to the good work of the home sides ground staff, skipper Dave Pett won a toss and asked the hosts to bat first.
Sean Lovell bowled an excellent 10 over opening spell conceding just 22 runs backed up by equally impressive 5 and 4 over respective burts by Adyitka Sembian and Callum Lloyd.
Lovell 17, Sembian 15 and Lloyd 13 showed the youthful quality in the sides bowling line up highlighting great promise for the future.
However despite multiple near misses and some drop catches, the hosts had put on 79 when the first wicket eventually fell in the 26th over.
Thereafter Samith Pramaraththa 10 overs 1 for 27, Mark Taylor 10 overs for 24 and Doc Sharma 6 overs 3-11 strangled the hosts batting line up.
Sembian then returned for another 5 over burst and his 3 wickets saw the hosts dismissed for a competitive total of 177.
Pett and Andy Hughes put on 31 for the first wicket before Pett was caught pulling to backward square leg and when 13 year old Lewis Harris and Doc Sharma both followed shortly after the pressure was firmly on the visiting batsman at 48-3.
Dave Rock came to the wicket and he and Hughes batted nicely until Hughes was bowled for a well made 23 bringing the experienced Ajith Walallawita to the wicket.
The pair batted beautifully in putting on a crucial match winning partnership of 57 before Walallawita was bowled for 25.
Wicket keeper Rock was dropped twice but crucially continued to score at a good rate.
Victory was brought up by 4 wickets with 7 overs to spare with man of the match Rock finishing unbeaten on 67 along with Sembian 7 not out who batted nicely to help the side over the line.
The team now sit in 3rd place with 4 wins out of 5 thus far and with the prospect of stronger availability to follow in the upcoming weeks.
