Potters Bar 3rd X1 played host to Hatfield & Crusaders 2nd X1 down the school on Saturday and eased to a 10-wicket victory in the process.
The home side won the toss and immediately invited the visitors to bat first with the forecast of heavy rain due to arrive mid afternoon.
Dinith Karunathiaka and Aditya Sembian opened the bowling and both bowled extremely well with pace and accuracy.
Their combined 13 over burst wrecked the visitors top order with Dinith returning fantastic figures of 7 overs, 5 maidens, 4 wickets for just 10 runs which was as good a spell of accurate fast bowling produced by Dinith in the past couple of seasons.
Aditya was equally as good taking 2-16 from 6 high quality overs as the visitors succumbed to 21-6, a position they couldn’t recover from.
Max Delyfer took over from Dinith and immediately took a wicket whilst at the other end Tom Kerr replaced Aditya.
There was a brief spell of resistance as the final wicket put on 25 runs before Tom took the final wicket finishing with 2-11 from 4 overs as the visitors were dismissed for 54 in 21.3 overs.
With the dark threatening rain clouds looming, skipper Dave Pett and Lewis Harris went out to bat with positive intent and consequently the victory target of 55 was reached in just 8.3 overs with the pair finishing unbeaten on 31 and 18 respectively.
Next week the side head to Allenbury’s & County Hall with a change of captaincy that will see the team lead by the capable hands of Dave Rock in the absence of Pett who is taking his turn to rotate which by pure coincidence is the same day that Arsenal are playing in the FA Cup Final ………………
