A PROPER HIDING FOR THE THREES BUT TITLE STILL IN THEIR HANDS

Potters Bar 3rd X1 visited Potten End on Saturday and left with a comprehensive 115 run defeat against an excellent home side.

Potten End won the toss and elected to bat first on a poor pitch, predominantly low in bounce but with the odd ball likely to take off at any time.

The home side batters played extremely well using their local knowledge to dig in but in turn take every scoring opportunity that came their way.

Matt Rathbone bowled another tidy economical spell of 9 overs for just 20 runs backed up by the Doc who also bowled with reasonable control taking 3-29 in his 9 overs.

Samitha, Callum and Tommy Rowlands all also bowled well without much luck with Tommy taking 2 wickets.

The home side ended on an above par score of 196-8 from their 45 overs allocation with good contributions from the openers who put on 76 for the first wicket and thereafter all the batters chipped in but alarmingly there were 37 extras conceded in the total which was poor by the visitors bowlers.

In reply wickets fell at regular intervals, the home side bowling was extremely accurate and the visitors were never in the hunt.

Ben Hunter hit 3 nice boundaries up top but thereafter only Doc 26 and Tommy Rowlands 22 made any contribution with the bat as the home side prevailed by 115 runs.

Congratulations to Potten End who were thus far by far the strongest side we have faced all season and they thoroughly deserved their win having outplayed the 3rd X1 in all facets of the game from start to finish.

Next week sees a ‘winner takes all’ title showdown against Cheshunt Rosedale 2nd X1 at the school in the final game of the season and a much improved performance is required.
