The 4’ season is off and running with a close win at home against the odds. After winning the toss and choosing to bat we started well with Amit and Chandra finding the boundary regularly but we lost 2 quick wickets to to check our progress. Sanjeev joined amit and played sensibly together getting us to 60-2 but after they both fell in quick succession wickets continued to fall regularly and we ended all out for 100 inside 35 overs.
At tea we were quite optimistic and knew with our bowling attack we had a chance and took to the field hoping to get in amongst Stevenage early and that’s exactly what happened with Ellis and debutant Alex Molloy taking 3 early wickets to have the oppo 20-3 with good catches taken by Adam and Ajay.
Our tails were up and we continued to push with 3 more wickets falling before drinks to restrict the opposition to 60-6 but with 2 experienced guys now in the middle slowly accumulating runs the game was in the balance. Bowling changes were made and Krishna making his first start of the season produced a bit of magic to remove there captain with a big turning delivery and quickly took 2 more with 1 a great catch by Amit.
Fittingly the final wicket fell to a good catch by Krishna to end Stevenage’s resistance for 75. Our batting woes continue but the spirit in the team is as good as ever and hopefully this is the type of gritty win to kick start our season
