A youthful 4's travelled to knebworth looking to continue it's recent good run of form. Captain Taylor was absent again sunning himself at the beach so Ellis once again had the reins and won the toss and put Knebworth into bat on a green sloping pitch.
Ben Hunter and Tim Ellis opened the bowling and kept it very tight for the first 10 overs but no wickets fell as the ball kept falling safe with poor catching also not helping. Harsh Patel came on to make his senior team debut and bowled very well and was rewarded with the first wicket as there opener edged to slip and the 2nd wicket quickly followed as Ellis got one to bounce and Scott De le Fuente took an easy catch at short mid wicket.
Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals after drinks with Ellis taking another before being replaced by de le Fuente who bagged himself 3 while big Andy Silvey importantly removing there danger man. Bar were well on top and brought on young Sean Lovell and set an aggressive field and this paid dividends as he picked up his first 2 wickets for the club in consecutive balls to bowl Knebworth out for 153.
After taking on refreshments Sanj Thangiah and Scotty strolled out to the middle knowing if we batted our overs it was in the bag but they clearly was listening as Sanj was dropped 2nd ball at point and then Scott clearly not happy about the attention not being focused on him ballooned one in the air which luckily landed safe but then decided to call a suicidal 2nd and ran Sanj out 4 yards short.
Barney Grice and Max Hall came and went quickly and when ever reliable Richard Grice was well caught for 7 we were bang in trouble at 48 for 4. Lewis Taylor made his way to the middle with strict orders to stay there and played excellently to see off there opening bowler and then he and Scott started to find the boundary regularly. At 20 overs we were 95-4 and soon after Scotty was celebrating his first 50 for the team. Lewis had done his job and with the shackles off helped himself to multiple boundaries before being well held in the deep for 40. Ben Hunter was next in and saw the game out easily with Scott hitting the winning runs to finish on 77 not out.
Another 30 points in the bag and up to 2nd in the table the 4's march on and with our batting starting to click the 4's are becoming serious title contenders. Special mention to our 2 young colts Sean and Harsh who both bowled brilliantly and Scotty for his match winning high score.
