The 4's continued in there rich vein of form with a good win away at Worrmley which cemented our 2nd place in the league.
Bar won the toss and put the oppo into bat on a good pitch looking to get in amongst them early but despite a frugal spell by Ellis and Phillips no wickets fell as the oppo played with resolute defensive. Phillips was replaced by Patel and the promising colt made the breakthrough as there opener dollied one to Scott in the covers and wormley were 40-1 after 16 overs.
Runs continued to be at a premium and with wormley needing to score runs wickets fell regularly with Titmuss taking 4 with great catches by Ellis and Harris accounting for 2 of them and de le Fuente bowling 2 out. With the oppo 8 down but the tail wagging a cunning plan was devised and bowling changes were made bringing 6'7' Silvey in alongside 4'7' colt Sean Lovell and the inevitable coup de gras was administered by "Whispering Death" Silvey as Wormley were bowled out for 133.
An excellent tea was consumed and talk turned to batting and captain Taylor pulled out corker of an idea to reverse the batting order. Sure enough we were soon to be 30-3 and the captain had clearly had a Weston caused by too much sun. Titmuss and Patel were the new men to the crease and rebuilt well with Titmuss finding the boundary regularly and Patel playing a good supporting role. The score was soon over 100 with Titmuss reaching his 50 and when Patel fell for 17 only 20 runs were required. Root was the new man to step up and picked off the singles well before Titmuss hit the winning runs.
A good performance to limit the oppo on a 200+ track and onto next week where the top 2 collide in a heavyweight clash of the titans. Word on the street is Sky Sports and ESPN are involved in a bidding war to screen it pay per view...
