First Half Performance to Blame

2 goals conceded very early and then the opposition get into the D again. The keeper kicks the ball directly at the striker’s foot and after hesitating slightly the striker puts the ball into the goal. 3-0 down at half time.

The second half started well and Bar had the best of it for the first 15 minutes. Without scoring in this time the pressure slowly dispersed and the game stretched out. Attacks by both teams for the rest of the half and then a well worked goal by Bar. The goal came from a failed clearance straight to Clare O’Sullivan who squared the ball to Katy Francis. An inch perfect pass to Zara Guppy who slotted the ball neatly into the back of the goal! 3-1.

From the resulting push back a St Neots player ran through the middle of the pitch and won a short corner. Another goal was conceded making the score 4-1. Bar did however have a moment of sheer laughter in the final minute of the match when a long ball was played by the opposition. The attacking player ran away from the direction of the ball and instead of going towards the ball, defender Lorraine Paul followed the player she was marking instead. The ability for the team to laugh at 4-1 down is the reason I love this club, great characters with such diversity in the team. Bring on Bedford for the next game and hopefully more luck will come about. A special note has to be made about the post-match teas by Charlie Barr, pulled pork rolls are simply amazing. (I can advise that the leftovers were much appreciated by the Men's 1s - Ed)
