The Scholars started brightly, and with former Amber Josh Hutchinson up top looked dangerous early and forced two saves from Harry Girling in the Ambers goal.

Cheshunt settled and with Hughes and Diallo coming into the back four they started to close out the Bar attack.

Fabion Simm and Mo Camara absolutely bossed the centre midfield area to the extent that supply to opposition forwards was cut off and they had to come looking for the ball.

This moved the whole match 20 yards up the pitch forcing more of it to be played in the Potters Bar half.

The Ambers failed to find Ola Williams as often as the space he generated demanded, but on the left Joe Re was linking well with Joe Russell behind him and Brian Moses in front of him.

Cheshunt’s opener came on the half hour mark, when Mark Hughes headed a deep corner back across goal, and Brian Moses rose highest (surprise) to head into the top corner giving Matt Nolan no chance.

The Ambers were now on top and a Joe Re thunderbolt from 30 yards smashed against the underside of the bar and bounced down on to the line, with a well beaten Nolan relieved to gather the loose ball.

Re was generating a lot of problems for the Bar defence with sharp passes into the busy Tom Hitchcock, then mixing it up with a run beyond.

It was one of these runs that produced the penalty with no dispute on the stroke of half time. Striker Tom Hitchcock stepped up and opened his account with a powerful strike into the corner.

The second half saw the Ambers continue their dominance but without further goals, the defence looking very comfortable.
