U18s win AFA County Cup Final

By Jeff Barnes

U18s beat Balham 3-0 to win Trophy

The team were not at their best today but managed to beat a very decent "big" team.

The opposition were physical and pressed all over the park but we managed to cope with it and scored 2 goals in the opening half through Alex Lambrou (25mins) and Jonah Sarpong (40mins).

The keeper made a couple of good saves but the score was 2-0 at half time.

The second half was a bit scrappy for 10 mins and Balhams confidence started to grow as they started to play the ball around. However, apart from a good shot that Mackenzie Taylor (in goal) saved well, we looked comfortable and then started to up the tempo and play our football again.

We created chances but the keeper was in good form including a save that he made without even stretching pushing a shot, that on another day would have gone in just under the cross bar, around for a corner.

The game was made safe on 80mins when Ben De Lacey Turner scored a well deserved goal.

Final score 3-0.

The first of two finals this weekend had been won.

Bring on the 2nd tomorrow.

Well done to the team today.
