Sunday 22nd Sept:

Herts County U14 Boys Challenge Cup Round 1 -

PBT Scholars1 vs Maccabi London FC U14 Lions White 3

It was County Cup weekend and the cup draw was not kind to the Scholars with being pulled out hat vs Maccabi an exceptional side from the Premier league of the Watford friendly. The Maccabi side was full of skill, speed, strength, energy, guile and had players who combine with playing for other teams at a higher level. It was by far the best team the Scholars have played over the many years.

The magnitude of the task did not hinder the Scholars who matched their opponents with hard graft, non-stop effort, togetherness and a never say die attitude, which was great to see. Our driving force throughout was our m-o-m Freddie Davies who had really led by example, in thick of everything with stopping their top striker in the first half and then taking this to another level while playing central midfield in the second half, effectively covering every blade of grass and turning defence to attack on numerous occasions.
It could have been so different when the Scholars trailing from the first half, equalised through a well delivered corner from Lambo which was met by flying Alban flick for Luis to hammer home. Unfortunately, within a minute the ref gave a dubious penalty against the Scholars which Maccabi scored from and ruined any momentum gained. It was also a shame to let in a last minute goal for a 3-1 loss, however, it must be said that Harry P in goal was again superb and he had some stand out performances from the defenders and rest of the team. The Scholars were also unfortunate to lose their talisman captain Nathan from half time due to a head injury and glad all was reported fine late yesterday evening.
All should be very proud of their efforts and bring on Chars next week! Special thanks to our tea ladies, all for such great support and not forgetting another super lino performance by Rob G

Report U10 game at weekend

Great enthusiasm from the team to get scoring early on in the game to put the game to bed early on. Great all round performance half time 6-0 up rotated the team around in the second half to give players new positioning to get them think differently not as strong as in the first half but the boys enjoyed it as they got to play in positions that maybe don’t get a chance to. Goals by Sami 1, Matthias 2 , joe 1, Dylan 2, Ollie 1, George 2
