Potters Bar fought back from a two goal deficit to take a share of the points in a tense trip to the seaside despite going down to ten men
For the first half hour the visitors struggled to settle to any real rhythm as they failed to gain a foothold in an error strewn, often fractious, game and were fortunate not to be behind already when Elliott Reeves put them ahead on 20 minutes converting from a cross from Noel Leighton.
Things then got worse for The Scholars just five minutes later as Reeves notched his second chipping R'avan Constable from outside the penalty area.
Bar finally came to life and got back into the game ten minutes ahead of the half time break as Roman Michael-Percil opened his Potters bar scoring account tucking away the rebound from the keepers save from Imedd Kartitas shot ,following a flowing move involving Brad Sach and Josh Hutchinson.
The second half continued to be dominated by Margate with Monlouis firing an effort wide in the 47th minute. Reeves failed to get his hat-trick hitting the bar with a header from 7 yards before Daniel went close with a free kick from the left hand side in the 58th minute.
Despite the home side pressure Bar were in the game and should have had a penalty on 80 minutes as an effort from George Quarrington-Carter looked to be blocked by a defenders hand , but the referee turned away the visitors protests.
Moments later Kadell Daniel's shot could have sealed it for Margate but this time R'avan Constable was equal to the effort. It was Constable to the rescue once again with five minutes left touching a well driven free-kick from Daniel on to the Bar and over.
Things looked even more difficult for the Scholars when Kieron Cathline picked up a second yellow card for an innocuous looking tussle and was consequently shown a red to put the visitors down to ten men.
With time running out, and miserable drive home looking on the cards, Josh Hutchinson challenged for a ball with a Margate defender and the referee pointed to the penalty spot indicating a handball. Hutchinson duly slotted home the kick to give The Scholars a point sending the Bararmy home relatively satisfied.
