A well-earned draw vs our next week quarter final opponents. We did not get the best of starts with going 2nil down after 15 minutes and could be down to most travelling early to a remote destination, and then walking through farm land to get to the pitch! Irrespectively, the Scholars responded well with our first coming from good delivery from Harry E and Jack read it perfectly to slot home. Our second was through good passing and movement, leaving Jack to smash the bar and Kyle in the right place at the right time to calmly finish.
There was no doubting the Scholars efforts after the first 15 minutes and had most of the game thereafter. Their GK was in great form to deny Kyle, Nathan, Jack and Archie, and with the last minutes of the game Brad came to the rescue with an outstanding save when 1 vs 1 their striker. It must be said that our defense of late have been doing so well and the hard working midfield in front of them too. Likewise the strikers led by example, closing down as much as they could. The key difference was when Alex was asked to do a man marking job vs their best player, and he did not give him a sniff in the second half and quite rightly Alex was our man of the match. Well done Alex and he even had a super strike from the edge of the box that just went wide.
The Scholars continue to improve and feel we need to allow them to express themselves more, so we just need to calm our Manager down with ensuring he focuses even more so on encouragement and continues to help the boys with positional awareness
Thank you all to the travelling support and hope to have even more support for our Cup game next Sunday.
