Scintillating Scholars at their very best make into the Semi-Finals....

A storming performance by the Scholars, seeing them at the scintillating best for the first 30 minutes going up 5 Nil, and playing some unbelievable football. This included a hatrick special from Rahim within 20mins, who had his mum beaming on her 40th, while he shrugged off defenders and smashed in goal after goal - just so clinical, and not bad for a lad who had been ill all week, so we had to manage his time carefully. The other 2 in in first half came from our man of the match Jack, who was just unplayable in his all round pass, movement and finishing - he just drove the team on. Even though Scholars were brilliant, Sawbridgeworth did manage to score just before the break to give themselves a glimmer of hope.

‎Second half was much the same for the Scholars, albeit they lost their shape a little, but still playing good football, hitting the target numerous times, but thwarted by a GK in top form. Sawbridgeworth did manage to score twice, but so did the Scholars with lethal Ollie Lambert striking home a delightful arrowing shot, and with the clock ticking away, Jack finally won his dual with the GK by completing his hatrick - as mentioned earlier, he was unplayable and his dad owes him a tenner!

There were many other outstanding performances, starting with Brad who had no chance with the goals, but had superb handling throughout and his distribution was out of this world!. His defence were also in great form, with Matt leading as an example to all, putting his body on the line and just swept everything up like the legendary Baresi. He was in great company with both Charlie's playing excellently, and Alban was just as good too - he managed the best sliding challenge we've seen this season. Also, while playing left wing, Charlie Philippou should be praised for one of the killer balls of the game when he played a great through ball to Kyle, and still unsure how their GK saved it. Kyle, again another who had been ill during the week, put in a lung busting performance, unlucky not to get on the score sheet and worked tirelessly for the cause.

The same effort came from our midfield, who all had a never say die attitude, great tackling, high work rate and effective passing - so big praise for Luis, Josh and the Welsh roaring dragon Harry Edwards. This was also mirrored by the unsung hero Nathan who covered every blade of grass and put in an action packed Captain performance - he was central to everything and the cog in the team that ensured all went to plan. Also, not forgetting Alex Moseley who matched our midfield heros and was exceptional in the way he had their nbr 23 in his pocket and believe he could still be in there!

What a performance from the Scholars and all should be so proud. Outstanding / Exceptional!!! and now for the Semi's!!!

Thanks again to our lovelies from Bishop Stortford for the hot drinks and cakes, Rob&Co for sorting the respect line, Sandra for the hot choc for the kids and Stu being a great lino, and not forgetting Philippou who made sure our extra support had seating! To all our parents - THANK YOU!
