Potton's manager saw fit to mix things up for this fixture and it almost worked when United took the lead half way through the first half. Up to that point it was an even match with the very wet conditions making it hard for both teams to keep the ball for long periods. The wet surface also saw some heavy tackles from both teams that are not normally seen in a preseason friendly. It could be argued that the ref allowed the game to become very loose but both managers excepted the conditions and the consequences of their players actions.

Town equalised just after the half hour mark and took the lead early into the second half. The rest of the game was seen out with both sides making a number of changes that meant the second half.
