POTTON UNITED 4 HUNTINGDON TOWN 1
Potton progressed to the next round of the Hinchingbrooke Cup with a good all round performance that saw them win comfortably 4-1 in the end.
Potton started brightly with first Nzembela shooting wide and then Camal firing over the bar. A good run by Lewis saw him passing to Andrew who saw his shot deflected for a corner. At the other end a last minute tackle by Wilson stopped Huntingdon from shooting. In the 22nd minute Potton took the lead when Nzembela collected the ball on the edge of the penalty area and shot just inside the post. Nzembela then made another good run but saw the keeper push his effort onto the post. Potton we conceding some unnecessary fouls and from one fee kick Seymour shot wide. Potton hit back with a 30 yard effort from Mullings, Camala saw his shot saved by the keeper and the keeper again saved at the feet of Jordan Goodman. HT 1-0
Mullings made an early run but gave the ball away. In the 48th minute the ball was played through to Richardson who turned and hit the ball from 20 yards to give Irish no chance of saving and the equalizer for Huntingdon. Salima then shot wide when well placed. Rafe Goodman had a shot easily saved by the keeper but in the 53rd minute Potton regained the lead. A sweeping four man move ended with Andrews centring the ball that was partially saved by the keeper but it fell to Nzembela to put it in the net. Nzembela saw his shot well saved by the keeper before Slama made a good run in the penalty area and was brought down and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. Slama cooly took the kick to give Potton a 3-1 lead. In the play leading up to the penalty the Huntingdon keeper, who was having an excellent match, was injured and had to be substituted with an outfield player taking his place in goal. From one Potton attack Nzembela shot from close range and the substitute goalie did well to block the effort. Slama made a couple of good runs before Nzembela was replaced by substitute Niall Dunn. Unfortunately he was not on the pitch pulling a hamstring when chasing for the ball and he himself had to be substituted. Salima made agood run for Hutingdon and saw his shot deflected for a corner. In the 84th minute Hamilton foumd Slama who hit it into the net for goal number four. In fairness Huntingdon continued to compete with Orrell’s effort saved at the expense odf acorner and from the corner Rosser shot wide. FT 4-1
