Potton out of tune as Hadley secure win.

Murrell sending off completes miserable afternoon for Royals.

Potton out of tune as Hadley secure win.

Potton 0 Hadley 2

After the midweek cup victory over Deeping, Potton went into this match against high flying Hadley with renewed confidence. But a lack of composure in front of goal cost the home team dearly as two late Hadley goals meant the Hertfordshire side continued on their winning run.
James Sage passed a fitness test to start at centre half but Potton were missing Jordan Wright through suspension and again were missing the services of forward Jim Burnside.
Both teams exchanged chances in the opening minutes. First Hadley's Jeff Idemudia beat Sam Parrish for pace but shot wide and then a mis-hit Danny Webb shot fell kindly to Gary Ansell Carter but he shot wide.
Webb got through down the middle on 7 minutes but did not hit his shot with any power and was diverted wide for a corner.
Hadley began to get on top after this with some good football being played on the ground to their lively front men. On 17 minutes they had another chance on goal but Anwar shot wide.
Hadley at this stage were getting a lot of joy down the right hand side but a couple of dangerous whipped crosses were well defended by the Potton back line.
On the half way mark Potton began to get more into the game and created a series of chances. Danny Webb and Martin Danobrega brought out saves from keeper Karl Beaumont and perhaps the best chance when Danny Webb's cross was played just behind Gary Ansell Carter who shot over from a yard out.
Hadley though were still creating chances though and a another cross was not dealt with but not for the first time this season Sam Parrish read the play well to clear the ball off the line.
This had been a frustrating half for Potton who were up against a good quality side and it really looked like either side could win the game if they took their chances.
Potton had the first chance of the second half, while most people were still returning to their seats, when Webb's shot was again saved by the Hadley custodian in the first minute of the second half.
Hadley then created a couple of good chances which brought out good saves from Tyler Josephs from O'Hara and Kamara respectively.
Danny Webb was getting a bit more freedom down the right hand side and he was involved in the next couple of chances when on 60 minutes his shot was cleared off the line and then a dangerous Webb cross bounced around the box and was cleared.
Like a couple of boxers, both teams kept exchanging chances. On 63 minutes a poor pass from Newland was cut out and then let in space behind which Hadley did not convert.
A minute later a great Jonny Hall cross field ball found Webb but his chance was again saved.
On 66 minutes Potton missed the chance which might have meant the final result was different when Webb played in Murrell but he took too long on the ball and shot tamely over when in front of goal.
Potton were made to pay for this just four minutes later when a weak shot by Marriot was helped into the net by Josephs to give the visitors the lead.
The Royals afternoon was made even worse on 78 minutes when Murrell retaliated to an earlier punch and was sent off leaving Potton with a mountain to climb in the last 12 minutes.
The afternoon went from bad to worse though in the dying embers of the game when sub Manny Hammond converted to give the away team the three points.
This was a pretty even match between these two sides with the difference being that Hadley had more composure in front of goal. Chances are at a premium at the top end of the SSML Premier Division and Potton will need to increase the chance to goal ratio if they want to finish in the top six.
Next up another tough match at another top six side in Colney Heath.
