Report by Nigel Westhorp

The team is gradually taking shape and with the introduction of three new players Potton United gained and deserved three points from this win.

Potton started brightly and a strong run by Nathan Mullings saw his shot deflected for a corner. Then Edgware attacked with Jahazi shooting wide. Mullings had a shot blocked for a corner and in the 6th minute Neville Nzembela played the ball to Mullings who cut in and from 25 yards his fierce shot gave the keeper no chance to save and gave Potton an early lead. Lopez made a good run but shot wide. Edgware were awarded a free kick in the 16th minute at which stage Paul Andrews had to leave the field for treatment. From the free kick by Burgess Moore scored with a well taken header. Both sides were guilty of some poor passing before Mullings passed to Nzembela who shot wide. Jordan Slama made a good run but saw his effort go wide. From a corner Andrews saw his header cleared off the line. Just before half-time Mullings had a shot saved by the keeper at the expense of a corner. HT 1-1

Early in the second half both Slama and Nzembela had shots go well over the bar. James made a good run for Edgware but a last ditch tackle by Andrews prevented him shooting. Lope then had a shot blocked for a corner. For Potton Harry Beckley had a shot just over the bar and at the other end Sam Irish did well to save at the expense of a corner after a shot from Lope. From the resulting corner he again saved well from a close range effort. Beech madea good run without really being tackled by any Potton player before shooting over. in the 75th minute Slama made an excellent run before sliding the ball to Nzembela who turned it into the net to give Potton the lead. A shot from Benavides was well saved at full length buy Irish. Back came Potton with shots from Nzembela and Ashley Ingham being well saved by the keeper. Then Albert Rachi fired over after good work in mid-field. Irish saved well from Ofori before shots from Ingham and Nzembela brought good saves from the keeper. The referee added 4 minutes of extra time but Potton held on without any real dangers. FT 2-1
