A night game under the lights involving two old rivals both challenging at the right end of the table.
That’s what the large crowd where treated to Wednesday night as our Vic’s first team travelled to face our old foes Ashville who are on a 12 game unbeaten run and came into the game very confident due to the fact they had beaten us in the cup.

The first half was a tight affair with Ashville working hard all over the pitch to close The Vic’s lads down. Ashville raced into a two goal lead before half time with some quality finishing. Vic’s played some good football but lacked that cutting edge in the final third with some poor decision making.
Half time Ashville 2 Vic’s 0
Second half kicked off and after 10 minutes Harvey Robinson and Kian Hamm were brought
on and made an instant impact. Both youngsters where right up for the game and ran Ashville ragged. Young Kian Hamm grabbed himself a hatrick and also was unlucky to have a header ruled out when the ref judged Harvey Robinsons cross to have gone out of play (it didn’t). The winning goal was a brilliant counter attack which involved 5 players Rainbow cleared to Forbes with Forbes helping it on to Hamm who's first shot was excellently saved by the Ashville keeper, Forbes hammered the rebound goal wards with the Ashville keeper superbly pulling off another reaction save which fell into the path of Frankie Ward who took the ball round the full back and squared the ball to the man of the moment Hamm who calmly slotted home to send the Vic’s squad and supporters into raptures and secured the 3 points.
Ashville are a very good side with Luke Cullen building a very good squad so this was an excellent victory for the Vic’s who now face a league double header against Helsby FC another team chasing promotion.
