On Saturday17th of July, Claire Barclay, Manager & Distiller at The Handmade Gin Company, together with 13 others joined together to raise money for the Julie Lawson (BEM) Community Events CIC.
They abseiled 150ft down Liverpool’s breath-taking Anglican Cathedral. Their aim? To assist Julie in something close to her and Claire’s heart, Dementia and Alzheimer sufferers in the Merseyside area.
Oh, and what a fabulous day! Claire originally from Warrington and not a ‘Scouser’ donned her nylon 80’s shell suit, curly wig and moustache.
Luckily the friction of her descend didn’t ignite her fancy dress and she completed her abseil unharmed!
Claire raised an amazing £1611 in total.
The money raised is funding 10 separate trips on board ‘The Pride of Sefton’ for Merseyside residents who have Alzheimer’s or dementia to spend a wonderful 3 hours onboard with live entertainment and an afternoon tea.
No time was wasted as the first sail was Monday 19th July !
Claire thanks all the members of Prenton RUFC who help to raise such a fantastic amount towards funding these wonderful days out, further contributions can be make at
