On a dark gloomy day at the dell a mixed blend of youth and experience took to the pitch to play Liverpool University, average age of 20! Prenton set the initial tone with some strong scrummaging but didn't quite have the cutting edge to take advantage. This allowed the students to come more into the game which resulted in them scoring the first try out wide. Prenton responded well and scored from forward pressure, but then going down to 14 men due to a sin binning cost us a try and we went in at half time 12-5 down. The 2nd half was one of missed opportunities and gifts for the opposition, the students scored two further try's. Prenton didn't give up and pushed but didn't quite have a enough to get over the line but not through the lack of trying. Final score 5-22
A big well done to John Burgess playing at 9 for the full 80 minutes in his first 1st team appearance in over a decade, and at the other end of the scale Lewis Cotgrave following in his family's footsteps and making his 1st team debut at a young age. Well done to the others who stepped up to the 1st XV as well, 100% effort given but need to turn pressure into points is the key thing!
