Another epic derby

Prenton arrived at Holm Lane full of confidence after recent improvements in performance. The boys from the Dell started the strongest of the 2 sides, dominating early and scoring (Jordon Burley) within the first 5 minutes of the match which stand in skipper Rob Seabury duly converted. However this lead was to be short lived as Parks came back and scored and converted, setting up what was to be ding dong of a fixture. Prenton's forwards continued to dominate the set plays, being the stronger in the scrummage area and at line outs. Parks struggled to compete and realised that this was a much improved Prenton side from the previous 2 encounters of the season.
Halfway through the half Rob Seabury crossed the line and converted his own try. Parks tried their best to comeback but some great defensive play from the boys in black, maroon and gold prevented Parks from crossing the white wash. However Parks did score and convert just before the half meant the spoils were even, but Prenton had the better possession.

The second half started just as the first had finished with Prenton dominating the game with great tackling from Knappo, Sam Johno and Craig James. Simon Hill, Jordan Burley and Buck showed the way with some great ball carrying and breaking the gainline time after time. To be fair Parks defended as well as Prenton attacked and this fixture was anyone's to win. Parks were awarded a penalty part way through the half and knowing there was no way through the brickwall defence of Prenton opted to kick for goal, and duly converted, Parks for the first time took the lead 17 - 14. Prenton didn't let this get them down and continued to push for a try at the other end. Late in the half after a lack of concentration Parks were allow to cross the line after a mix up on the Prenton 5 yard line, this was not converted and Prenton didn't implode as may have been the case in the past, the brushed themselves down and continued to play the better rugby, but were unable to obtain any reward. the fixture ended 22 - 14, but Parks knew they had got out of jail free.

Each performance over the last 3 fixtures has improved, and the much needed victory is not to far away. Well done to the 20 man squad and the many Prenton supporters who travelled to Holm Lane for this fixture. Next game is against Ellesmere Port at home on Saturday 25 March, which is also club sad shirt day, so digout your most horrendous shirt and try and out do club chairman Cavo!!
